Sotecc Anti-collision LED-Canopy flasher for enhanced flight safety.
Besides the proven Flarm systems, you now have the option to be way better visible in the air.
And since we fly VFR, this might even be better as Flarm for flight safety (off course both is best).
With its six LEDs, the canopy flasher is the ideal combination of visibility and efficiency.
The inconspicuous, black design, makes it adapt to most modern glider cockpits.
The canopy flasher does not reflect in the canopy and does not restrict the field of view!
When purchased as a standalone, the canopy flasher will flash with a certain predetermined frequency (which cannot be changed) when power is supplied.
*Optional connectBOX.*
In modern glider cockpits there are now countless buttons, switches and displays. Our Sotecc canopy flashers can now work fully automatically in combination with the connectBOX.
We therefore highly recommend combining the canopy flasher with the Sotecc connectBOX.
When switching on the avionics of your glider, the canopy flasher is armed, but still not flashing and is waiting for your take-off.
Once gaining speed on your take-off roll, the canopy flasher starts flashing with a battery saving flash frequency.
If a potential collision threat is recognized (depending on several parameters, Flarm for example), the canopy flasher automatically switches into the alarm-mode, the flashes are getting more remarkable and more aggressive.
After landing and coming to a full stop, the canopy flasher automatically stops flashing and is then again ready and armed for the next flight.
All this without increased pilot workload and without any switch. It´s as simple as that.
Glider pilots are individualists, that's why the canopy flasher can be configured individually.
With the "Sotecc-Configurator" provided, depending on your preference the connectBOX settings can be easily adjusted, such as; the flashing frequency, the alarm threshold and the visibility of the LED's.
-Reduced pilot workload.
-Less potential for errors due to automatic mode.
-Protection also against aircraft without flarm.
-Battery saving normal operation.
---To 1 connectBOX, up to 1x canopy flasher and 2x strobe (fuselage) flashers can be connected.---
*Optional canopy contact.*
With front opening/latching canopies it is of fundamental importance that in the event of an emergency release it is not blocked by cables or other connections.
An easily detachable connector is supplied as standard for canopies that latch forward.
For side opening canopies, Sotecc developed the new canopy contact, that combines functionality and safety with uncomplicated installation.
This ensures that the canopy can be safely released and provides power when the canopy is closed.
The package includes a template and easy-to-understand installation instructions with many pictures.
*Option LED light colour Red/White or DuoFlash.*
The color red means danger, and is therefore quickly perceived by the human eye. It is also a contrast to the mostly white gliders.
Our flight tests quickly showed that we would therefore equip the canopy flash with red CREE® LEDs as standard (LED color white also available).
This means that visibility is good even on days with strong sunlight.
For the ones who cannot choose between Red and white there is now the Duo flash option, where red and white are combined in the flasher and flash shortly after each other.
The housing is remained the same as the standard flasher, only the LED's are combined.
It is therefore also protected against aircraft without a collision warning system, because not every aircraft is equipped with a collision warning device (Flarm or ADS-B).
*Option for Nextel paint.*
We also offer the contacts and canopy flasher to be painted in Nextel, which adapts even more to modern cockpits.
In a nutshell.
- Improved visibility thanks to five powerful CREE® LEDs.
- Supplied "Sotecc Configurator" for individual requirements (only supplied with connectBOX).
- Collision warning also against aircraft without Flarm.
- No impairment of the emergency canopy release.
- Canopy flasher adapted to the aircraft type.
